Academic Activities:
Dr. Tan’s expertise includes hierarchical models, survey analysis, database design, cancer surveillance and control research, health care system evaluation and cost analysis. Dr. Tan has worked extensively in analyzing large health data, especially the cancer registry, Insurance claims, and hospital discharge data. She was the principle investigator in the project entitled “The Cost of Cancer in Texas, 2007”. The project adaptively used the National Cancer Institute cost estimation framework (Yabroff et al., 2008; Lipscomb, 2008) to estimate the cost of cancer care in Texas.
