Drs. Brian Pinkston and Cheryl Lowry, associate professors in the Dept of Preventive Medicine & Community Health, were recently featured in an article in the Galveston County Daily News regarding the launching of the world's second advanced degree program in extreme medicine at UTMB. Once the program is approved by the Texas Higher Education Committee, graduates of the new Master of Science (MS) in Extreme Medicine program will be able to practice medicine in extreme environments.

A 14-hour certificate program in extreme medicine is currently available to those with a baccalaureate degree and medical background such as an Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Medical Student or Physician.
